Karen Cervera24 days agoWe purchased 10 weeks of training with K9 Advantage and we are about five weeks in and could not be more pleased with the results so far! Our dog is half Dutch Shepherd and was reactive and aggressive to strangers and other dogs. After the first session, we could see progress and it has been continuous. Constance Moore249 days agoI learned a whole new approach to training. As much for me as the dog. He is so much easier to walk and take places and is very good at home as well. He comes with me and sits as I clean each room. Waits patiently while I eat or work on the computer. He's regaining privileges he lost. By keeping him on leash for morning potty break he avoided a trapped skunk in our yard. Roger Frei276 days agoWe have just completed our 10 week training course with Roy. We have a rescue dog who was aggressive towards other dogs. We have learned a lot about dogs and training techniques. Although we are sure Roy may have felt some frustration with our training consistency he was always courteous and patient. He is very knowledgeable and we would highly recommend him for any dog issues that have to be dealt with. In our last session a group of 4 dogs walked by about 15 feet from Bobby and he did not react. We personally feel that Bobby has come a long way. Steve Huger547 days agoA neighborhood friend highly recommended Roy after he had gone through the 10 individual lesson course offered by K9 Advantage. I spoke with Roy even before i received my 16 week old Labrador pup and he recommended starting training early, before bad habits are set and that has turned out to be great advise. We now have completed eight of ten training lessons, gone to a couple group lessons and Roy has taught us how to encourage proper behaviors and good manners. Shawna Russell550 days agoRoy is an amazing trainer and the most knowledgeable behaviorist specialist. Within one session we started seeing changes. We were having issues with control, aggression, basic obedience and manners. Roy quickly saw the mistakes we were making and set us up on a path to basically a new relationship with our dog. We did the 10 week training session and we will continue to work with our dog using Roy's training techniques. I've had many dogs throughout my life, and I learned more in one session working with Roy than I had in many years of dog ownership. I feel that any future dog I will own will benefit from the knowledge I learned from this training program. Michael and Elaine Gough552 days agoIf you are looking for the best dog trainer look no further. Here is our story. We adopted Lilly in January 2022. She is an approximately 2 1/2 year old German Shepherd mix/American Bulldog/Pitbull/Stafford Terrier mix and was out of control and definitely ran our household. We had used another trainer after her adoption, who used treats, string cheese, and a head halter for her training. We found it did not work for us. It only taught Lilly to look at us for a treat every few steps on our walks and when we did not offer treats, she totally ignored us. We reached out to Roy in May 2023 after Lilly had a severe reaction on a walk to a motorcycle going by that left her running away with me injured, on the ground and very upset. We were definitely at the end of our rope. We attended our first Saturday training class in May 2023 where Lilly showed Roy her true colors right away by jumping out of our car window after another dog. Thankfully she had a seat belt on that kept her in the car. I was mortified and thought any chance of him training us was gone. Thankfully Roy accepted our challenge of training me in private lessons. Yes, I said training me. I had to learn how to be the pack leader and allow Lilly to follow. We went through two 10 weekly private classes with Roy along with attending every Saturday class he offers in Kingman. A normal owner won't need 20 weeks, but I was a slow learner and took a bit longer to learn to become the leader. I learned that I had to be in charge, read her body language, be consistent, use a crate, a dog run and chain collar with her. Roy gave me the confidence and the knowledge to be a true leader who now continues to work with Lilly on a daily basis as well as continuing to go to Roys Saturday training classes. He was always available for questions or concerns I had or have even now during the process. The difference in her behavior is night and day. She now sits at doors and waits to be allowed in or out. She is on a feeding schedule now and she knows she does not have to react to the outside world anymore. When we started with Roy, I couldn't touch her feet without her trying to bite me so cutting her nails was out of the question. Yesterday, with some more one on one training with Roy, I cut all of her toe nails. That may not seem like a big deal to most but to me it was a huge accomplishment and I was so proud of myself and Lilly. She is so much happier not being the leader. I am so grateful that Roy accepted the challenge of training Lilly and I. Thank you Roy for everything, I will forever be grateful for you sharing your gift of training with us. We came to him with our 1year old lab mix who had been showing some aggression to our older dog, extremely hyper and just generally out of control. Through our 1 on 1 sessions, Roy taught us the reasons behind the behaviors and how to move through them with learning obedience and building our relationship with our dog. We are now able to bring our dog to parks, on car rides and even into stores with confidence that we will be able to be successful in managing any issues. We look forward to continuing group classes with Roy to keep up what we have learned and keep working at socializing our doggo. We were traveling in our RV and only had 4 weeks to work with Roy before we headed home. His training didn't require any gadgets which I truly appreciated because I am uncomfortable shocking my dog. Randy McNally1002 days agoAfter rescuing our year and a half old German Shepherd, we began looking for a trainer where we could start with training basics. We found K-9 Advantage where Roy offered a drop-in class on Saturday mornings in Kingman. We thought this would be a good way to meet the trainer and get a feel for his methods. We talked with Roy before the class and he took time to understand our needs and our dog. Roy was explaining to us how dogs need to have a leader and signs to look for if your dog doesn’t consider you a leader. Right on cue our dog showed us those traits. During the first class there were dogs with all skill levels, from highly trained dogs, to a dog that snapped at Roy. Roy effortless went from dog to dog and kept everyone engaged and included while assisting those that needed help. Taking part in this first class we knew Roy would be the trainer for us. We signed up for K9 Advantage’s 10-week private sessions. Roy met us at our home for the first lesson and we discussed the questionnaire we had completed and a wide range of topics concerning dog behavior. Since then, we have met him at various locations to socialize our dog and conduct training with distractions. His training will help you learn proper obedience techniques and become a leader to your dog and your dog will gain confidence and trust. Training with Roy is pleasure, his knowledge and experience is top notch. He always addressed our questions and concerns explaining the psychology and reasons behind Katie's actions. She has become a much closer family member. She actually cooperated (most of the time🙂) with Sit command and let both Roy & myself touch her hips to encourage her. She ordinarily would have snapped at that action. I have only had one session so far but he was very knowledgeable and I have already seen a change in my dog's behavior based on what he taught me.
