Training is an essential part of your dog's life for several key reasons, and at K9 Advantage Dog Training, we help you unlock these benefits through proven, psychology-based methods.
Training provides essential mental stimulation, keeping your dog happy and engaged. When paired with morning exercise, it tires your dog out mentally and physically, helping them relax calmly throughout the day rather than becoming restless or destructive.
Training strengthens the bond between you and your dog, building trust, communication, and a deeper relationship that makes everyday life more enjoyable for both of you.
The earlier you start, the better—ideally with a puppy. Beginning training young makes it much easier to establish consistent rules and good habits from the start. Correcting unwanted behaviors later is possible, but it often takes more time and effort once those patterns are set.
For shy or fearful dogs, training builds confidence, reducing fear around other animals and people so your dog feels more secure in various situations.
Training opens the door to safe, positive experiences in public areas, enabling proper socialization that's crucial for your dog's mental health and overall well-being. Well-socialized dogs are happier, more relaxed, and better equipped to handle real-world encounters.
With more than 40 years of experience, we base our methods on dog psychology.
We specialize in:
· Obedience training
· Socialization
· Building calm, confident, well-behaved companions
· Behavior Management

Levi, a resident of Lake Havasu City, has been diligently working on obedience training, mastering the basics before including socializing in the training sessions.

Downtown Kingman is an excellent location for follow-up training sessions with Board & Train clients. It's important to remember that training the dog is just the initial step in the process. Lea, a delightful individual, spent approximately four weeks with us during the training program.

Tank, a young but large German Shepherd, has shown significant progress in his training. He has become calmer, allowing for successful outings to the park where we can now focus on his socialization skills.

Melody and I had an enjoyable time during the training session in Oatman, AZ. It was a fun experience watching our dogs explore new adventures in this popular tourist destination.

Distractions can be a challenge, but not for Ginger. I can't do a training session in Kingman without stopping at the train station. Even loud, fast moving trains don't keep Ginger from enjoying her adventures with Melody.

As you can see, dog training doesn't always have to be hard work. After the initial training, you and your dog can reap the rewards of your efforts. In this picture we are visiting a local coffee joint, The Liquid Bistro. Great coffee and very dog friendly.

Training your dog at home doesn't require a fancy setup, a professional arena, or hours of dedicated "training time." The most powerful lessons often happen in the everyday moments—right in the middle of real life.
A perfect example comes from a recent session with Jed, a well-mannered pup working with K9 Advantage, a dog training program that emphasizes practical obedience grounded in canine psychology and strong socialization skills.
Picture this: Jed's owner had an unexpected call with a garage door specialist. Instead of putting training on pause or crating Jed to keep him out of the way, she simply gave him a calm "sit" command. And there he stayed—patiently planted on the floor for a solid 10 minutes while she handled the conversation. No treats waved in his face, no constant reminders, just quiet self-control while life went on around him.
That's the beauty of home-based training done right. It transforms ordinary interruptions into opportunities to build rock-solid reliability.
