Training - The Key To Happiness With Your Dog

Training is an important part of your dog's life and is important for several reasons.

  • Training provides mental stimulation which helps to keep your dog happy, and if combined with morning exercise, your dog will be mentally and physically tired and more likely to relax during the day.

  • Training will help build a strong bond between you and your dog.

  • Start training your puppy/dog as early as possible.  It’s best to start at an early age, it's much easier to establish consistent rules from the beginning than to go back and try to retrain an undesirable habit your dog has developed.  Once a behavior has developed, training may take longer.

  • Dogs that are shy will become less fearful around other animals and people after training.

  • Training makes it possible to take your dog into public areas for socializing; which is very important for your dog’s mental health and well-being.

Levi during a training session at Lake Havasu AZ

Levi, a resident of Lake Havasu City, has been diligently working on obedience training, mastering the basics before including socializing in the training sessions.

Downtown Kingman is an excellent location for follow-up training sessions with Board & Train clients. It's important to remember that training the dog is just the initial step in the process. Lea, a delightful individual, spent approximately four weeks with us during the training program.

Training can be fun!

This is Bear, a 9 month GSD. We are training.

Tank, a young but large German Shepherd, has shown significant progress in his training. He has become calmer, allowing for successful outings to the park where we can now focus on his socialization skills.

Melody and Ginger, Willow and I in Oatman, AZ. We are training and working on socializing.

Melody and I had an enjoyable time during the training session in Oatman, AZ. It was a fun experience watching our dogs explore new adventures in this popular tourist destination.

Gotta catch a train

Always enough time for a coffee

This is Ginger. I make it a point to take my clients to the train station when we are in Kingman.

Distractions can be a challenge, but not for Ginger.  I can't do a training session in Kingman without stopping at the train station.  Even loud, fast moving trains don't keep Ginger from enjoying her adventures with Melody.

As you can see, dog training doesn't always have to be hard work.  After the initial training, you and your dog can reap the rewards of your efforts.  In this picture we are visiting a local coffee joint, The Liquid Bistro.  Great coffee and very dog friendly.
